This page lists all the different weapons, grenades and accessories that are available in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
In the title for most of the weapons you can find a link that will provide more information (from an external website) about that particular weapon. Most, if not all, of the weapons in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl are based on real weapons but have, for the most part, been given slightly different names.
Sort by ammunition type
All the weapons include descriptions, ammunition types, and images which you can click to see the full description of each weapon. You can also see my personal notes as well as information about where or how to obtain the weapons. Weapon statistics are also included, as well as an average of these - the latter doesn't indicate the best weapons as such, but serves as a decent comparison basis for different weapons of the same type.

|
The weight and size of the Akm 74/2U are similar to those of a submachine gun, but its operation mode and the ammunition it uses place it into the class of the assault rifles. Its advantages are its small dimensions very useful when fighting inside a building or in a thick forest and a relatively high piercing capabilities. Its main disadvantages are a limited accuracy range and quick overheating when firing bursts.Accuracy | | 20.00% | Damage | | 7.50% | Handling | | 80.83% | Rate of Fire | | 45.00% | Average | | 38.33% | Weight | 2.7 kg |

| A couple of Monolith soldiers carry this rifle inside the Sarcophagus. I have also been able to find it in a crate during the final teleporter level (outside Chernobyl). I haven't seen this weapon anywhere else so I reckon you'll only be able to wield one during the endgame. |

| This rifle can be bought from Skinflint and the Barkeep may eventually also have it available. In the later stages of the game you may encounter Monolith members wielding this rifle as well. |
|
After the British army replaced this rifle with the German-made GP 37, it appeared in large quantities first on the black market and then in the Zone. The IL 86's main advantages are a standard 4-x scope and the high accuracy of the first shot. In burst mode, its accuracy decreases greatly, and the main mechanisms of the rifle are not reliable enough.Accuracy | | 36.67% | Damage | | 17.50% | Handling | | 30.00% | Rate of Fire | | 54.17% | Average | | 34.58% | Weight | 5.00 kg |

|
The weapon of the elite troops in the Russian army. It was designed as a replacement for the outdated Akm 74/2. Not only the Obokan's internal mechanisms but also its receiver and its barrel are moveable, which decreases the recoil and increases accuracy.Accuracy | | 40.83% | Damage | | 16.67% | Handling | | 41.67% | Rate of Fire | | 45.00% | Average | | 36.04% | Weight | 3.90 kg |
| If you check the external link providing more information about this weapon, you'll see a picture of the author of that website (world.guns.ru) - anyone else see a remarkable similarity between him and Skinflint? I reckon the developers used that website themselves (or was given personal assistance by him) to find images and information regarding various weapons - and as a tribute, or a simple "thank you", decided to make a character of him in the game. |
| This weapon is common among the military and you'll often encounter soldiers using this rifle. You can also buy this rifle from both Barkeep, Colonel Petrenko and Professor Sakharov. |
|
A relatively new assault rifle for the 5.56x45 mm SS109 round. This weapon is very popular due to its accuracy, soft recoil, and high reliability.Accuracy | | 50.83% | Damage | | 26.67% | Handling | | 22.50% | Rate of Fire | | 63.33% | Average | | 40.83% | Weight | 4.00 kg |
| Skinflint will usually have this rifle for sale as will the Barkeep once you've been to X18. It is a fairly common rifle used by Mercs in the Wild Territory. |

|
Machine gun supplied with a modified optic sight for carrying out sniper fire. The optics embedded into the body of the weapon has a higher resolution than the standard model.Accuracy | | 45.00% | Damage | | 12.50% | Handling | | 41.67% | Rate of Fire | | 45.00% | Average | | 36.04% | Weight | 3.90 kg |

| This weapon is given as a reward for the completion of the mission Purge the freedomers given by General Voronin. |
|
Given machine gun has an integral grenade launcher to go under the barrell, which makes this an even more universal weapon.Accuracy | | 40.00% | Damage | | 12.50% | Handling | | 41.67% | Rate of Fire | | 45.00% | Average | | 34.79% | Weight | 3.9 kg |
| This weapon is part of the mission Find the weapon of the Dutyer given by Brome at the Bar. |
| This weapon is carried by a bandit that usually can be found at the bandit HQ in the Dark Valley, the same place where you had to kill Borov to get the second key to X18. Sometimes you can also find the bandit in Agroprom Research Institute; check the mission location for his whereabouts. |
|
A light rifle with an effective fire range of up to 300 meters. Due its to exceptionally easy triggering, high ergonomics and low weight, the weapon is highly accurate, though it is too sensitive to dirt and is not always suitable for use under difficult field conditions.Accuracy | | 55.00% | Damage | | 26.67% | Handling | | 57.50% | Rate of Fire | | 73.33% | Average | | 53.12% | Weight | 2.70 kg |

| Many Mercs carry this in Wild Territory and it can also be bought from Skinflint at the Freedom headquarters in Army Warehouses. |
|
The given barrell is the excellent work of one of the stalker-craftsmen who managed to work the rifle to by able to fit the more widespread 5.45 mm bullet.Accuracy | | 28.33% | Damage | | 38.33% | Handling | | 77.50% | Rate of Fire | | 73.33% | Average | | 54.37% | Weight | 3.20 kg |
| A Duty member called Barin at the Bar area is carrying this rifle. |
|
An assault rifle combined with a grenade launcher. It is a very good type of assault rifle for the Zone conditions: it is compact, reliable, but universal and powerful. The Tunder S14 is one of the favorite rifles of the military stalkers.Accuracy | | 30.83% | Damage | | 38.33% | Handling | | 77.50% | Rate of Fire | | 73.33% | Average | | 55.00% | Weight | 3.67 kg |
| Many Duty members carry the Tunder, and it can be bought from Sakharov at the mobile lab in Yantar. |
|
This weaponry is based on the Vintar noiseless sniper rifle, but it has a folding butt, can fire bursts and has a larger magazine. It was originally designed for special forces operating in conditions demanding noiseless and flameless fire.Accuracy | | 45.83% | Damage | | 38.33% | Handling | | 71.67% | Rate of Fire | | 54.17% | Average | | 52.50% | Weight | 2.50 kg |
| Both the Barkeep and Colonel Petrenko may eventually have this rifle available in their inventory. |
|
A super-accurate weapon made by the scientists in the Zone. It is almost noiseless, because instead of gunpowder, it uses the artifact's energy for firing rather than steam gases. In spite of the Gauss gun's tremendous firepower, the recoil is insignificant. The accuracy and the killing power of this gun exceed those of all other small arms.Accuracy | | 86.67% | Damage | | 100.00% | Handling | | 55.00% | Rate of Fire | | 1.67% | Average | | 60.83% | Weight | 5.50 kg |
| You cannot sprint while wielding the Gauss Gun. |
| You wont be able to buy the Gauss Gun, but you will encounter many enemies wielding these in Chernobyl NPP, inside the Sarcophagus and during the final (teleporter) level. |
|
This rifle was widely used in all operations of the Soviet and Russian armies since 1960. It proved itself to be an exceptionally reliable and handy weapon. In the Zone it is preferred by the experienced stalkers of the Duty faction which hunt mutants.Accuracy | | 46.67% | Damage | | 70.83% | Handling | | 1.67% | Rate of Fire | | 7.50% | Average | | 31.67% | Weight | 4.90 kg |
|
A special sniper rifle designed for noiseless and flameless sniper fire and equipped with an integrated silencer. It can pierce any bulletproof vest at a range of 400 meters. It is a weapon highly valued by stalkers of any level.Accuracy | | 70.00% | Damage | | 47.50% | Handling | | 70.83% | Rate of Fire | | 45.00% | Average | | 58.33% | Weight | 3.20 kg |
| This is one of my personal favorite weapons; sure the magazine capacity is small but the accuracy and stopping power is superb. |
| You can find a Vintar inside one of the hangars in the Freedom HQ in the Army Warehouses area; refer to this screenshot for the location. You can also receive the Vintar as a reward if you retrieve the enhanced rifle for General Voronin at the Duty headquarters. |
|
A revolver-type grenade launcher. Sometimes, it is just indispensable, particularly when targeting large numbers of mutants, attacking well-guarded stationary objects or fighting especially tough creatures.Accuracy | | 5.00% | Damage | | 58.33% | Handling | | 87.50% | Rate of Fire | | 6.67% | Average | | 39.38% | Weight | 6.20 kg |
| You cannot sprint while wielding the Bulldog 6. |
| The Bulldog 6 can be found in two places, both in the Army Warehouses area. The first is located in a blue box stash at the armory in the Freedom Headquarters, and the second can be found in the Bloodsucker village (the western part of the map); refer to this page on how to obtain the Bulldog 6 from the village. |
|
A grenade launcher developed in the 1960s. Such grenade launchers are stored in large quantities in army depots, from where they are transferred to the Zone. Such weapon is rare for stalkers: its huge dimensions and heavy weight make it unpopular, though it is indispensable for some missions.Accuracy | | 1.67% | Damage | | 100.00% | Handling | | 87.50% | Rate of Fire | | 29.17% | Average | | 54.58% | Weight | 6.30 kg |
| You cannot sprint while wielding the RPG-7u. |
| Another weapon I've never seen for sale; you can however find it in a number of places - there is one on tbe top floors of the building in Dark Valley that also has the entrance to X18 in it. A Merc is also carrying a RPG the first time you visit Wild Territory - he's part of the group that is attacking Kruglov and the other scientists. A number of Monolith soldiers use the RPG in Red Forest and in Chernobyl NPP. |
|
A defensive hand grenade with a large radius of splinter damage. It is recommended to throw it only from behind cover.Weight | 0.63 kg |
| A less common grenade that, as far as I know, will only be found on corpses. |
|
An offensive hand grenade with a small radius of splinter damage.Weight | 0.35 kg |
| This is the most common type of hand grenade in the game and you'll often find it on corpses of bandits, soldiers, etc. The grenade can also be bought from certain vendors. |
|
| Whether it's a bug in the engine or in the weapon description, the GP-25 cannot be attached to a Akm 74/2U. |
| You can find this grenade launcher attached to an Akm 74/2 in the locker room in X18. |
|
| You can find a TRs 301 with a M203 attached to it inside the armory at the Freedom HQ in the Army Warehouses area. It is also given to you as a reward for a mission done for Lukash - I still have to confirm which mission it is, though; thanks to IceDragon79 for the information. Although the description indicates it can be fitted onto the GP 37 it really can't. Whether this is an error in the description or a bug in the game is currently unknown. |
|
A widely used Soviet scope. The scope can be mounted on a weapon using the dovetail mount used by the Warsaw Pact countries.Weight | 0.20 kg |
| This scope can be obtained by doing an optional mission for bullet in Dark Valley. You can also get it by bringing Screw a bottle of vodka. |
|
An effective silencer made by Zone gunsmiths. The kit includes a set of adapters for weapons of any calibre.Weight | 0.10 kg |
| Although the description indicates that this silencer can be attached to any weapon it actually only works on the Big Ben, Black Kite, Fort-12Mk2, Fort-15, Martha, SIP-t M200, UDP Compact, Viper 5, Viper 5 9x18, and the TRs 301. |
| You can find a silencer in many different places. Some of them include inside a metal box on top of a building at the old mill in Cordon (watch video), in a metal box inside a truck at Garbage (watch video), in a secret stash (also in Garbage), and finally in three secret stashes in Agroprom Research Institute; refer to the Stashes page for the information and location of these stashes. Thanks to Drakelet for letting me know that the silencer does in fact also work with the UDP Compact. |
|
A 4-x scope produced in the NATO countries. It can be attached to a standard NATO mount, also called the Picatinni rail.Weight | 0.20 kg |
| You're likely to find your first SUSAT scope when you return to the Wild Territory area after being to Yantar since the Merc snipers are likely to be wielding, among other weapons, scoped TRs 301 assault rifles. As far as I know, they won't have scopes the first time you're in Wild Territory. |
