This page features videos showing areas that the developers probably didn't intend for anyone to reach. However, the tenacious player will obviously check out anything he or she can - in this case, areas that are hard to reach or just not meant to be explored first hand. Currently the page only features a handful of videos but I reckon it'll get expanded to a great extent as more interesting areas are located. Many thanks to everyone, especially at the forums, for tips and tricks on how to reach some of these areas!
This video demonstrates how to get behind the counter in the 100 Rads bar, and it will show what the area there looks like. There aren't really that many interesting things, but I think most people who have played this game have, at least at one point, been curious to see what secrets it keeps - you can't wield a weapon at the bar, but there is still a guard - ie. something, just something, interesting must be back there... right!? Well, now you can see that for yourself. To get behind the counter, get close to the guard that keeps telling you: "You can't go there!". You now need to do a crouch-jump (crouch - then jump and quickly press the crouch button again) - if you pull it off right, you should be able to jump onto the counter and from there move onto the guard. If you then do a low crouch you can move through the doorway. Notice that if you make it onto the other side, the guard will kindly step aside so you can get out again. He's not such a bad fella' afterall! |
The area around the Bar is quite large and it is quite easy to access as well. This video demonstrates one way of getting there along with a view of some of the area. There aren't really that many particularly interesting spots, although you have a chance to explore some recognizable areas you normally don't have access to - the tower near the exit to the Army Warehouses area, for example. The cross is located just after the first control point you get to after reaching the Bar area from Garbage. To get on top of it you'll need to do the same crouch/jump trick as used in the previous video. |
Another video of the outside area with a different entry point - the dog infested area just outside the first control point - from the previous video. What surprised me a bit about this particular area is the fact that I ran into not only a blind dog but also a bloodsucker in the middle of nowhere. As you can see from this video, and the one before it, the Bar area is pretty big, but it only has trees and structures at the "center"; the surrounding patches of land seems to be very deserted. |
Not exactly a regular exploration video as such since this video demonstrates how you can reach the Sarcophagus without firing a single shot, and without triggering the blowout countdown. The interesting part is the first 30 seconds of the movie that shows you how to get outside the regular staging area in Chernobyl NPP; once outside, you can choose to explore the area around Chernobyl, or if you wish to gain quick access to the Sarcophagus you can follow the video. All you need to do is follow the wall initially going west, and eventually turning north; shortly after you'll reach the reactor building. Go east towards the marker on the map, marking the entrance to the Sarcophagus. Please note that getting onto the concrete base of the pylon at the beginning of the video, I am using the crouch-jump move that allows you to make slightly higher jumps. If you can't make it yourself, you can always drop your armor, jump onto that, and from there onto the base. Many thanks goes out to Zoman at the GSC Game World community forums for providing the basic tip and inspiration for this video! |
This video demonstrates how to get outside the regular playing area in Pripyat. Unlike most of the other videos on this page, the actual exploration is left up to you. The starting location is just after entering Pripyat - you can both see and hear the stalkers waiting to push forward into Pripyat. This tip may also serve as a quick way to Chernobyl NPP since you can move all the way to the north of the stadium, and if you get close enough, the game will automatically load up the next level. |
This lengthy video shows you how to get into one of the open areas outside the boundaries of Red Forest. The starting point is near the keypad door that has a sniper near it. From there you just jump onto the "railing" and from there onto the bunker. Getting on top of the "railing" can be tricky - it usually takes me a couple of attempts. The open area is pretty deserted in itself, except for a couple of trees and some electricity towers - however, the path can serve as a shortcut or alternate path to the Brain Scorcher facility. At the end you'll see an area covered by the next video. I have made another video that demonstrates how this area can serve as a shortcut to the Brain Scorcher facility. The colors in the video are all yellow - this is simply because the Brain Scorcher is still active. |
This area can be reached in at least two ways. The previous video showed one way, and this video will demonstrate a different one. The area is located "behind" the Brain Scorcher facility and doesn't really have anything of real interest in it. As you can see, the area serves as background for the facility - there are parts of a crane there that is not fully modeled, for example. Also you can easily see some of the quirks of the engine that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is using - namely textures appearing and disappearing depending on your viewpoint. The colors in the video are all yellow - this is simply because the Brain Scorcher is still active. |
This video demonstrates how to get outside the regular playing area of Wild Territory; unlike some of the other videos on this page, it'll just show you how to get outside - and leave the actual exploration up to you. I think it will be more fun you to explore the area yourself, and since many of the areas are pretty large, the videos would be quite long if they were to show every nook and cranny.Right after you enter Wild Territory from the Bar area you'll notice a truck in front of you. You can jump onto it and from there onto the pipes on the right side. Once you're up there you can follow the pipes back to the entrance and jump down behind it; from that point on you are free to explore the area around Wild Territory. There are a few invisible walls here and there, but from what I could gather, you can walk around pretty much the entire area. |
Yantar is one of the few areas in the game that isn't closed in by a fence or other types of structures physically hindering your path. This means that you can basically run all the way to the edge of the map - and beyond! The developers have added strong pockets of radiation, but that really doesn't stop you from moving beyond the intended limits. As you can see in the video, you don't actually die from moving over the edge of the map - unless you don't carry some anti-radiation artifacts or a decent armor. Once you drop over the edge, you can see what the map looks like from below. Dropping an item while "floating" will kill you, for some reason. |
This video shows the area behind the facility in Yantar. Not terribly interesting as such, but you do have a chance to see the tunnels below the area. |
